The following Revelation was received by Paul Davies on 24th August, 1997. As with all prophetic words, these must be weighed and tested with a spirit of humility and repentance. Where Bible passages are referred to, the interpretations given are not intended to be seen as the interpretation of the passage, but as God speaking to his people's current situation by giving an interpretation.
I asked the Lord when I would have a chance to use the water I had been given to bless others, and he showed me the following:
I saw a vision of a deep well, representing the deep store of the Spirit that the Lord has been building into many of us. I saw the well starting out as a shallow pit, and the fist of God punched into the Pit, forcing it deeper and deeper. With each punch the voice of the Lord bellowed "Deeper!". As he continued punching deep into the well, the ground shook with the sound of each hit, but the capacity of the well to hold water was increasing all the time.
At the same time I saw many of us in this situation trying to give away the water that we had received, but the timing was premature, and our plans and efforts came to nothing. We became frustrated, and even toyed with self-promotion, but this was frustrated as well. Each time we tried to give the water away prematurely, the Lord would punch again, and the vibrations would shake us from our feet. He graciously allowed us a small measure of success at various intervals, to encourage us to keep going, but then punched even harder, in some cases knocking us from our feet.
I then saw another vision, representing the same process. This time I saw a rocket being prepared for launch. The rocket spent a lot of time sitting in the assembly hangar, while every system was checked, tested, and re-checked; and the rocket was being filled with fuel and readied for launch.
Even after the rocket was fully ready, it spent a long period of time as it moved slowly into the right position for its launch. Then, for another period, it sat on the launch pad until the timing was absolutely correct. As the count reached zero, the rocket exploded into the sky.
Interpretation:
I believe the Lord is encouraging many of us who are diligently trying to be faithful with the "little" we have. He is refining and purifying us, despite our best efforts to rush out and do things. We are completely unable to take off until everything is prepared, and until the time is right, he is continuing to fill us up and move us into position. Each system is being refined and tested, so that the whole will function perfectly in tune with the Spirit.
Also, the depth of water in the well was much greater towards the end than I had expected, and would never run out. Previously, when I had tried to give away water, and had a measure of success, I gave away all I had, and 'dried out'. The process of recovery was painful, yet eventually brought greater depth of wisdom, understanding and empowering, which I then rushed out to use, and was frustrated in. Eventually, I learned to wait for the Lord's timing and leading. When the time is right, each of us will "explode" off the pad, with much greater power and effectiveness than we believed we had, and greater depth in the Lord. I believe that we will be surprised when we realise the extent of what the Lord what the Lord has built into us, despite the pain and confusion we experienced at the time.
Update: (December 1997)
The Lord had been speaking to me about "putting away the things that hinder" (Eph. 4:22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires).
He showed me the rocket again, and warned me that while I had been waiting on the pad, with nothing apparent going on, I had allowed my attention to wander, and was in danger of going off course if I was launched. I believe that he is challenging us to "simple devotion", and calling us to cast off the "fleshly desires" that ensnare our attention off Him.
He reminded me of Revelation 3:17 "You do not understand", and that my own understanding and clarity of vision was still not mature, and that I needed to spend time seeking him, both in His Word and as himself (2 Cor 3:18 "And we all, with unveiled faces, gazing as in a mirror on the glory of the Lord, are changed from glory into glory").
Just as the computer on the rocket can only obey one set of instructions, we need to ensure that we are hearing only from one source, the Holy Spirit, and not allowing our attention to be captured by the things of this world.
