The following Dream was received by Sarah Davies in March 1996. As with all prophetic words, these must be weighed and tested with a spirit of humility and repentance. Where Bible passages are referred to, the interpretations given are not intended to be seen as the interpretation of the passage, but as God speaking to his people's current situation by giving an interpretation.
My husband and I were walking along the beach, and came to a cliff face dividing the beach. In the cliff face was a perfect circle doorway, with a huge, heavy stone door. We asked a bystander "What's on the other side?", as we were intrigued.
He replied "That's the Open Ocean - the free surfing area. It's open to the ocean, with massive waves, and it's very rough". He opened the door, an amazing feat, as it was so heavy, and when we stepped inside, we saw that the water was dead calm, with lots of people laying on the beach. We laughed and said, "Great surfing- you can't surf without waves." The whole scene was very pretty, with a small headland, with very deep, blue water, sparkling in the sun.
Suddenly we heard a great roar, and we saw a massive wave sweeping in towards the beach. Everybody turned and ran towards the door, terrified of the wave, which hit just as the door was closing, swamping the beach. After the door had closed, the bystander said "See what I mean?" We were stunned, and asked if people really surfed that wave, as we hadn't seen any. "Yes", he replied.
"What happens now?", we asked him.
"We have to go on shark watch, because the wave is so great it draws in all the sharks from the ocean. We have to wait for the sharks to leave before we can go back in."
Later, I was walking along the beach, but my husband was not there. The door was open again, so I went to look, and my husband was swimming amongst the waves in the open sea. The waves were smaller than the Wave, but it was still very rough, and he was swimming happily, "grinning like an ape". There was one other man swimming, but I could not see him clearly.
Interpretation (Paul Davies)
The beach represents the current state of the church, which is currently walled-off or separated from much that the Lord has been doing (eg. Toronto, Pensacola, etc.), though the door is easily opened to those who seek. The Free-Surfing area can also be seen as the place of the Lord's blessing. Those lying on the beach have entered in to the first part, but although warned of the intensity and size of the waves, were terrified by the reality. Many had been enjoying the blessing, but were unprepared for the Next Wave - they hadn't learned to surf.
The Wave brought with it sharks. This speaks of the attack of the enemy against the Lord's work. The sharks were seen from both sides of the wall, but came in response to the wave. With the next Wave we will need a lot more discernment from the Lord about when to move out (swim) and where, and most importantly, when not to move.
Both the bystander and the faceless man swimming with the husband represent the Holy Spirit, who is present as a guide and lifeguard. Many immature Prophetic people are being deceived at this time by the enemy, and are claiming that the Lord is no longer (some say has never been) in the Toronto blessing or the Pensacola Revival.
The Lord is answering those with legitimate concerns about some "fleshy" manifestations, etc., and reassuring them He is present, and in charge. Beware of those speaking from a negative spirit, and judging manifestations and not by fruit - do not listen to them, or be scared off by their discernment of the coming judgments (which are real) as their interpretations are immature. Many of the criticisms speak of "internal witnesses" of the Spirit, and write off manifestations as demonic. This is perilously close to blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, and we need to remember Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 3 &4 about judging - especially chapter 4:5 "...judge nothing before the appointed time". Many are making snap judgments about the Lord's work, which is different in each individual, in both timing and method. Be very careful! Test everything! (1 Thess 5:21). Remember also, the widely recognised, mature prophetic people are not speaking in this way. Instead they are openly affirming the Lord's presence in Toronto, Pensacola etc. (eg. Paul Cain, Larry Randolph).
The Spirit both opens the door (which is really heavy) to the place of blessing and then accompanies us into the waves, keeping us safe as we learn to swim. There is a lot of joy when we learn to swim with the Lord, despite the "rough seas", which will not scare us when we learn how to handle them.
